This gray Nissan GT-R, caught while being unloaded from a truck at Nissan's Nurburgring workshop, is suspected of being a prototype of the long-rumored GT-R Spec V.
Subtle changes differentiate this GT-R from the production models that have begun to hit the world's streets. The lower front fascia has twin slits that should provide more air to cool the upgraded brakes -- the gold Brembo calipers have made way for silver ones that may indicate a carbon ceramic system is under development. Additionally, this prototype rides on new black six-spoke wheels.
The GT-R Spec-V could be as much as 200 pounds lighter than the regular GT-R through the use of carbon fiber components and body panels as well as other weight-loss techniques. A power boost is on tap as well, possibly to a claimed 550 horsepower. Considering that the regular GT-R boasts at least 507 horsepower and as much as 570 according to our dyno test, the Spec-V version could end up being close to the 600 horsepower mark.
