2009 Infiniti G37 Convertible, Coupe, and Sedan

It wasn't exactly a well-kept secret, but we now have confirmation that Infiniti will build a convertible version of the G37 coupe. The rest of the G lineup will see updates as well.

There are no pictures available of the new convertible, but we can tell you that it has a three-piece folding hardtop. The shape is said to mimic that of the coupe. We'll judge that for ourselves when we get our first look at the Los Angeles show in November.

The G37 sedan (née G35) will benefit from the 3.7-liter VQ V-6 introduced in the G coupe for 2008, though it will make 2 hp less for a total of 328 hp. The sedan will continue to be offered in rear-wheel- and all-wheel-drive configurations.

Though they got their share of attention this year, the coupes won't go unchanged for 2009. The biggest addition will be a new all-wheel-drive G37x coupe.

All three cars will also get a new seven-speed automatic transmission to replace the five-speed auto that was previously offered. A six-speed manual will still be available as well. Scratch Shield paint with a self-healing clear coat layer will also be standard across the board. The new coupes and sedans will be available beginning in September of 2008.
