Future: 2007 BMW X5

Catching up in the revamped sport/activity vehicle

Running a bit behind schedule, the new X5 looks ready for late 2006 release, at least in Europe. The revamped sport/activity vehicle is longer and wider, reportedly to accommodate a third row of seats and catch up with the competition. BMW is said to be considering M versions of this and the RFK tall coupe/crossover variation. But for now engines will include 3.0-liter six and 4.5-liter V-8 turbodiesels for Europe and a 258-horse, 3.0-liter inline-six and 367-horse, 5.0-liter V-8 gas engine for everybody.
