During my four years with the 2004 GMC Sierra, the only thing I disliked about this truck was the hurt it was putting on my wallet to fill it up every four days. It was a never-ending cycle though as that lovely Vortec 5.3-liter V-8 engine sang ever-so-nicely to me when accelerating quickly but that also wastes gas. Quite a predicament. The stock exhaust note even while idling was great and adding an after-market exhaust from Banks only made it better. My Sierra was a work truck so the interior appointments were "lacking" to say the least but it was perfect for someone like me who would take it to school and work (an automotive shop). I wouldn't have to worry about getting the cloth seats dirty as they were incredibly easy to clean and I added a tonneau cover to secure my baseball bag in the bed. It toowas easy to install. Changing anything on that truck was also easy, oil changes took $25 (including the filter) and an hour after work. The engine casing also had a perfect beer-can-sized ring stationed right off to the front of said engine. It was put to good use while changing oil or switching out a pair of spark plugs. During its four-year stay with me, I drove up and down the east coast multiple times and amassed over 100,000 during that time. The Vortec engine was indestructible and turned over no matter if it was -10 or 95 degrees out. Besides the aforementioned gas price issue, the electronics on the instrument cluster did fail on me and I did need to have it replaced. That's a common issue though with all Silverado/Sierras from this time period though. I would buy this truck again without batting an eye lash, it was that good to me.One day, I will have another GMC Sierra too. You can count on that.
