I joined the Honda family shortly after Christmas when the transmission on my beloved 2003 Ford Taurus abruptly bit the dust. With a daily commute to work, a New Year's Eve trip already planned and automaker sales coming to a close, the 2012 Honda Accord EX-L V6 scored highest during my three days of car shopping.
My search was targeted for a sedan with plenty of speed, good gas mileage, somewhat sporty looks, black leather seats, no shortage of space and a price tag within my reach. Surprisingly, despite the advertisements and supposed progress made on hybrids and electric cars, nothing was even close. It also remains nigh impossible to find a car with more than 200 horse power and more than 30 MPG that isn't a compact.
The gas pedal is also responsive. I've driven other cars and vans over the years, and I've grown to dislike gas pedals with a lot of play. I'd rather step on the pedal varying degrees and go proportionally, which the Accord seems to do.
This is my first brand new car, so I'm not exactly sure how to gauge bang for buck yet, but I'm slowly getting a few ideas. If Honda's legendary reputation as a reliable automaker holds up and my car is still running largely problem-free in 10 years, I'll probably concede that the higher price tag is justified.

I have had 3 Hondas in my life - first a Civic and 2 Accords. Honda is the most reliable car manufacturer. I know once I purchase one, I can keep it for years and years.
It isn't the fanciest car but you get a lot for the amount you pay for.
I'm a Honda loyalist, primarily because of the quality and dependability. The honda accord is a great car that has ample room to see 4-5 comfortably depending on the size of people and plenty of trunk space. I have previously owned a honda civic and older model of the accord and will continue to drive them for years on end. The cars offer plenty of space, drives well, dependable and enough feature sets to keep me entertained while driving.
This Honda Accord is a pretty good car... I'm a car guy, race car driver, and all around lover of the open road and I've owned everything from Mazda Miatas to a Chevy Suburban over the years so I come from decent experience with new cars... With that said, I think Honda did a good job on the 2012 Accord (I've owned a 2007 Accord as well) but I made a mistake buying the base-model this time. The sound system sucks big time and having a sunroof is important to me. Moral: get an EX model.
Now mind you I don't really care that the car is slow as well (I have other cars and a motorcycle to go fast with), but I would have thought the inline 4-cylinder would get better gas mileage than it does (I average 29mpg with 90% freeway driving). If I would have known this, I would have bougth the V6 and traded a few MGPs for a lot more fun and passing ability. The base model was so cheap though (around $18k+tax etc.) that I might not have gone with the V6 though.
Allaround this is a good car and so far has been bulletproof reliable, but I just want to tell everyone that it's better to spend a few grand more and get a decent sound system, sunroof and other extras. Other than that, The Accord is still a good car and I'd get it anyday over a Korean car like Hyundai or Kia....
