Overview

The 2005 Hyundai Accent comes in two body styles: hatchback coupe and sedan. The optional anti-lock brake system is revised, and exterior features provide good functions for the vehicle. Interior features are well rounded and will please many drivers. The power and performance on this vehicle are a bit low in regards to power and smooth riding. Safety is in the above average range with plenty of features aiming to protect drivers in anything from fender benders to high-speed collisions. The fuel economy is good on this vehicle as well.

The 2005 Hyundai Accent comes in eleven different colors to choose from. The Accent includes body color bumpers, grille, manual exterior mirrors, license plate garnish, and door handles. Other exterior features include halogen head lights, tinted glass with sunshade band, variable intermittent windshield wipers with washer, and intermittent rear window wiper and washer for the hatchback model. The 13-inch steel wheels come with deluxe wheel covers and all-season tires. The Accent includes a compact spare tire. The GT models upgrade with body color rear spoiler, side rocker moldings, front fog lamps, and GT badging. The GT models come with 14-inch six-spoke alloy wheels with all-season tires for every month and weather of the year.

The features include reclining front cloth bucket seats with multi adjustable driver seat and lumbar support system and adjustable head restraints, 60/40 split-folding rear cloth bench seat with integrated head restraints, driver fold-down armrest, velour floor covering, three-spoke steering wheel, tachometer, coolant temperature, odometer, digital clock, remote fuel, door, hood and trunk releases, rear window defroster with a timer, two retractable front cup holders and one rear cup holder, illuminated front ashtray, 12-volt power outlet, front door map pockets, dual cloth sun visors with ticket holders, three assist grips, cargo area lamp, and a rear coat hook. The four-speaker audio system is an AM/FM stereo with a cassette player and fixed mast antenna. The GT models are upgraded with sport cloth front bucket seats, rear sport cloth bench seat, leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel white face instrumentation with digital trip odometer and a leather-wrapped shift knob. Performance & Handling

The 2005 Hyundai Accent comes with a 1.6-liter, inline four-cylinder, gas engine rated at 104 horsepower at 5800 rpms, which provides for 106 lb-ft of torque at 3000 rpms. The transmission is a choice between a five-speed manual with overdrive and a four-speed automatic with overdrive and transmission shift interlock. The vehicle is front-wheel drive. The Accent comes with a 75-amp alternator, an independent MacPherson strut front suspension, an independent multi-link rear suspension, front and rear stabilizer bars, power assisted rack and pinion steering, front disc brakes and rear drum brakes. The GT models upgrade with a sport tuned front and rear suspension.

Safety

The 2005 Hyundai Accent earned an above average crash test rating with five stars in driver front impact, four stars in driver and passenger side impact, passenger front impact, and rollover crash test ratings. The driver and front passenger get airbags and side-impact airbags. The Accent includes front three-point seat belts with adjustable height anchors, pretensioners, and force limiters. The rear includes three-point outboard seat belts and the LATCH rear child seat anchor system. The steering column is energy absorbing, the body has side reinforcements, the front and rear have crumple zones, and the hood has buckling creases and safety stops. Anti-lock brakes are optional on the Hyundai Accent.
