Infiniti has not introduced any major changes in the specification of the 2005 Infiniti FX45. Some of the few additions that are new to the FX45 lineup include a new intelligent key, intelligent cruise control, roof-mounted side curtain airbags, and a lane departure warning system. All these additions are part of the standard equipment and features.
Infiniti designers employed a new combination approach for the Infiniti FX45. The exterior design of the FX45 is a blend of significant SUV characteristic. It has a lower sleek body and a more elegant upper body, which is a characteristic of the sports GT. The typical muscular SUV stance and rounded and sloped rear rooflines accompanied with chrome and aluminum accents gives the FX45 a more flashy look.
Based on a 112.2 inches wheelbase, the Infiniti FX45 measures 189.1 inches long overall, 75.8 inches wide and stands 65 inches tall. It also introduced two new colors: Sheer Platinum and Sapphire, while the signature grille enhances the overall beauty.
The interior of FX45 boasts of a wide variety of comfort and convenience features. The standard list of comfort and convenience features include interior air filtration, cruise control, electrochromatic inside rearview mirror, alloy trim on dash and center console, front and rear reading lights, dual climate controls for driver and passenger, and a leather and alloy steering wheel.
Performance & Handling
Powered with a powerful 4.5-liter, V-8 engine generating 320 horsepower and 329 lb-ft of torque, the FX45 can reach from zero to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds and zero to 100 mph in just 7.6 seconds. With top speed of 137 mph, the 2005 Infiniti FX45 comes as a surprise combination of street racing sensibility accompanied by SUV functionality.
The abundant engine power presents frequent driving thrills along with a superb quality ride. The all-wheel drive, which is standard in FX45, lacks low-range gearing which makes the car unsuitable for off-road travelling. The Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All-Terrain system (ATTESA E-TS) and sport-tuned four-wheel independent suspension works intelligently to enhance performance and ride quality.
The ATTESA E-TS converts the FX45 into a 100 percent rear drive when running at constant speeds. If the driver uses the throttle to accelerate, the system automatically transfers 50 percent power to the front wheels. Equipped with enormous optional 20-inch wheels and tires, handling-tunes suspension, and race car-sized brakes, the FX45 can easily climb mountain slopes and cruise through snow-laden roads. Infiniti designed the FX45 for more on-road performance unlike its competitors that also have good off-road capabilities.
The 2005 Infiniti FX45 has an impressive list of safety features. The 2005 Infiniti FX45 received high ratings in NHTSA tests for passenger safety. The standard list of safety features includes four-wheel anti-lock braking system, emergency braking assist, front and rear head airbags, dual front side-mounted airbags, and two front and three rear headrests. It also includes rear door child safety locks, front and rear height adjustable headrests, driver and passenger head restraint whiplash protection system, stability and traction control, and front seatbelt pretensioners.
