2013 Infiniti G37 Review

Reviewed by Automotive on

Vehicle Overview

The 2013 Infiniti G37 luxury sports car sits in a segment full of tough competition, and although may not be as aesthetically appealing as its competitors, when sitting behind the wheel, those thoughts may change. The G37 is available as a sedan, coupe, or convertible. The sedan and coupe are available as a Journey, G37x AWD, or Sport 6MT, while the convertible is only available as a base or Sport 6MT. The sedan models are powered by a 328-horsepower 3.7-liter V-6, with the coupes powered by a 330-horsepower 3.7-liter V-6, and the convertibles powered by a 325-horsepower 3.7-liter V-6. Both the coupe and sedan models deliver an EPA-estimated 19/27 mpg city/highway, while the convertible delivers 17/25 mpg city/highway.

In an early 2013 road test, the Infiniti G37 felt dated, with its engine shining through. It had plenty of torque, good handling, and sounded great, but the styling inside and out put a damper on the overall package. Infiniti needs to refresh the G line to pull in more than just enthusiasts. Those who are looking for great performance and don't care what the car looks like overall will be happy with it, but when compared to its competitors, it falls short. "During our time with the Infiniti G37, we certainly laughed. But if we were paying with our own money, we'd quickly stop laughing."

Standard features for the 2013 Infiniti G37 include automatic xenon headlights, foglights, keyless entry and ignition, heater power front seats, leather upholstery, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, Bluetooth, 7-inch infotainment display, rearview camera and a six-speaker sound system. The Premium package adds a sunroof, rear parking sensors, an upgraded sound system, while the Navigation package adds a navigation system, voice controls, and Bluetooth audio. The Technology package includes adaptive cruise control with collision-mitigation braking, automatic wipers, and an upgraded climate system with an air purifier.

New for 2013

For the 2013 model year the G25 will be dropped, along with the base G37 coupe, Sport Appearance Edition G37 sedan, and Limited Edition G37 sedan. The "silk obi" aluminum interior trim replaces the "shodo" aluminum trim.
