2004 Infiniti I35 Review

Has a bit of trouble standing up to the other class competitors but has a good look and adequate abilities.

Reviewed by Automotive on

The 2004 Infiniti I35 isn’t going to be the flashiest or fastest sedan available in its class. It does have plenty to offer the right buyer, however. This car is attractive with a comfortable cabin and plenty of standard, safety, and convenience features available. Its 3.5-liter, V-6 engine has more than enough power to take care of the daily commute, day to day errands, and whatever else the driver may need. Highway driving is smooth and comfortable. Overall, this is a good choice for the car owner that wants lots of reliability and dependability as well as an attractive body design and lots of safety features.

What's New

There are some changes for the 2004 Infiniti I35. For the model year, the sedan receives a sunroof and power rear sunshade as standard equipment as well as body side sills. No other changes are made for the model year.

The 2004 Infiniti I35 looks like what it is, a nice, unassuming sedan perfect for families, professionals, or older people looking for a reliable car. As noted, the 2004 I35 features a new sunroof, rear sunshade, and body side sills. It also has an assertive front end and grille with prominent headlamps and the Infiniti logo located in the center of the grille. The bumpers are painted to match the rest of the car’s paint, giving it a cohesive, elegant look. The rear end features a nicely sloping line from the car’s roof to the trunk area and easily visible turn signal lights and parking lights.

While there have been complaints that some of the materials used in the 2004 Infiniti I35 are lower quality than some of the model’s competitors, the overall look and feel in the cabin is very nice. Both the driver and passenger seats are adjustable for the perfect fit. These seats are leather and bucket style with a power adjustable lumbar support system in the driver seat. The back seat features its own ventilation ducts, offers an armrest with storage in the center and is split folding for additional cargo space. This car also features power accessories, such as mirrors, door locks, and windows. The front console also has storage along with the front and rear door pockets. Cup holders are conveniently spaced in the cabin as well. Cruise control and a tilt adjustable steering wheel are standard for the driver’s comfort. Controls for the cruise control and the car’s audio system can be found on the steering wheel as well. Speaking of the steering wheel, it is wood and leather and adds a nice elegant touch to the interior. Leather trim accents the dash and faux wood can be found on the shift knob, doors, and center console.

Performance & Handling

The 2004 Infiniti I35 is well equipped with a 3.5-liter, V-6 engine capable of 255 hp and 246 lb-ft of torque. The company pairs this powerful engine with a four-speed automatic transmission. While the powertrain promises a great deal, the I35 overall performs adequately in most situations. This isn’t a car to expect great, sport sedan like performance from, though it is well known for its reliability. Depending on the owner, this trait could be more important than speed and race car-like abilities. The suspension system offers a comfortable ride, especially on the highway.

In addition to its reliability, the 2004 I35 from Infiniti has a list of safety features almost as long as its list of standard features. This car is equipped with four-wheel anti-lock brakes, front and side airbags, and front side mounted airbags. It is also equipped with traction control, head restraints designed to protect the car’s occupants from whiplash injuries in the event of an accident, and emergency braking assist. For parents or child caregivers, this sedan offers child seat anchors and rear door child safety locks on every car as well. Seatbelts with pre-tensioning abilities are located in the front seats for additional security.
