The M37 is the flagship of the Infiniti brand, aimed at giving the German luxury automakers a run for their money. Anyone looking for an alternative to a Mercedes-Benz or BMW luxury sedan will want to give the M37 a second glance.
The 2012 Infiniti M37 is a midsize luxury four-door sedan that seats five. It comes in two models: M37 and the upgraded M37x. The M37 is loaded with standard luxury features, including leather upholstery, wood trim, and an upgraded infotainment system. The M37 fancies itself a sport sedan as well, with a relatively firm ride and sport options. While this vehicle may still satisfy the traditional luxury sedan buyer looking for a smooth ride, for many, the sport tendencies may be a turn off.
New For 2012
A new model of the Infiniti M37 was released in 2011, featuring a wider, longer chassis and upgraded 3.7-liter, V-6 engine. In 2012, the M37 only receives a couple small upgrades:
- 18-inch five-spoke tri-split alloy wheel now available for all models
- Deluxe Touring package now offers graphite interior
2012 Infiniti M37 is an attractive luxury sedan with sleek, curved lines. The sporty front boasts a large grille and dramatic, sporty headlights. The M37 comes with 18-inch alloy wheels and all-season tires. Standard features also include automatic bi-xenon headlights, heated power mirrors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, a power glass sunroof, and foglights. Exterior options include a rear deck lid spoiler, splash guards, and a Midnight Black grille. An 18-inch wheel package can also be added, featuring a unique, five-spoke tri-split wheel. Upgrading to the Sport package brings 20-inch alloy wheels and sporty exterior accents.
Interior & Cargo
The interior of the 2012 Infiniti M37 is what you would expect from a luxury sedan. Wrapped in rich, leather upholstery and wood trim, the cabin of the M37 provides the perfect mix of function and opulence.
Interior features include leather seats, leather trim on shift knob, a leather and alloy steering wheel, eight-way power driver and passenger seats, heated driver’s seat, power locks, mirrors, and windows, remote window operation, 12V front power outlets, audio and cruise controls on the steering wheel, and a rear view camera. The user-friendly infotainment system features six speakers with 160 watts of stereo output, an AM/FM in-dash single CD player, Bluetooth, iPod integration, USB connection, auxiliary audio input, and speed sensitive volume control. The 2012 Infiniti M37 also offers XM satellite radio capabilities. Three months of XM service is included. Illuminated kick plates, a trunk net, first aid kit, and carpeted trunk mat all come as interior options. There are several memory settings on the 2012 M37, including driver and passenger memory seats and memory steering wheel, as well as memorized audio system and climate control settings.
The cargo space in the M37 is average for its class at 14.9 cubic feet of space.
The 2012 Infiniti M37 offers a long list of standard safety features, including everything you would expect to find in a luxury sedan. Among the features are a four-wheel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), emergency braking assist, front and rear head airbags, dual front side-mounted airbags, passenger airbag occupant-sensing deactivation, rear door child safety locks, child seat anchors, front seatbelt pretensioners, rear center three-point seatbelt, adjustable headrests, whiplash protection system, and a post-collision safety system that responds in the event of a crash. The Technology package offers even more safety features, including Infiniti's Blind Spot Warning system, Distance Control Assist system, Lane Departure Warning system, Forward Collision Warning system, and Intelligent Brake Assist.
With all of these added safety features, it's no surprise that the 2012 Infiniti M37 received the highest rating of ""good"" for frontal crash tests performed by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) also gave the 2012 M37 four out of five stars in most crash tests.
The 2012 Infiniti M37 offers a firm, powerful ride. The independent double-wishbone front suspension, along with the wider base, offers excellent handling. The M37 comes with just one engine option; a 3.7-liter V-6 paired with a seven-speed shiftable automatic transmission boasting 330 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. Drivers looking for a bit more of a sporty feel can take advantage of the wheel-mounted shifters. They can also upgrade to the Sport package with a sport suspension; but these additions move the M37 more into a sport sedan category, and the drive may be a bit too firm for many luxury buyers.
