2004 Infiniti M45 Review

Capable sedan that’s a good alternative to the German options.

Reviewed by Automotive on

It’s no surprise to anyone that the most popular class for the luxury car is the midsize class. When Infiniti offered the M45, the Japanese company knew what it was doing. This sedan offers a great deal in terms of performance and handling. With its impressive 4.5-liter V-8 engine and five-speed automatic transmission, this car is quick with nice reflexes built in. The assertive powertrain is mild enough for the basic driver, while it offers enough excitement to impress a demanding one. The cabin is designed with plenty of fun features as well. The front seats are sport styled for comfort and support. Infiniti chose to carry over many of the last year’s optional features to the 2004 as standard options, too.

What's New

Infiniti offers many of the 2003 options as standard equipment on the 2004 M45. This year’s model offers an auto dimming rearview mirror with compass and Homelink as well as heated outside mirrors standard on this model. It also has a full-size spare tire, adjustable two position memory for the driver’s seat, and a tire pressure monitoring system standard. The CD changer has been moved from the glove compartment to the dash. The navigation system is available as a stand-alone option for the 2004 model year.

The 2004 Infiniti M45 is the company’s answer to the various midsize German sedans available on the market. The body style is elegant and classy, with plenty of character and nice accents. This car features a slightly rounded front end and grille with the Infiniti logo placed in the center of the grille. The sides are gently rounded with a curvaceous back end. The bumpers are painted to match the exterior car color giving the car a nice, sophisticated look. Several colors were offered with the M45 including Black Obsidian, Ivory Pearl, Diamond Graphite, and Emerald Mist.

The 2004 Infiniti M45 offers plenty of comfort and convenience in the cabin. This car is equipped with plenty of space in the front and back seats. Most passengers should fit comfortably in this car. The M45 features leather sport styled seats in the front of the cabin. The driver’s seat is equipped with power adjustable lumbar support. The back seats are spacious with a center armrest complete with storage as well. The back of the car has its own ventilation ducts for the most comfort possible. Power accessories were added for convenience as well. The sedan has power door locks, windows, and mirrors. Infiniti is known for luxury, and it followed through with the M45. The cabin is accented with wood trim on the dash, doors, and the center console. The leather steering wheel and trim on the shift knob add a touch of elegance as well.

Performance & Handling

The 2004 Infiniti M45 is part of the first generation for these cars. While it isn’t the largest or the most exciting to look at, the sedan from 2004 are more than up to the standards set by most drivers in terms of performance and handling. In short, this car is fast. The M45, with its 340-hp, V-8 engine and 18-inch performance tires, is simply a beast in most situations. Equally important, the handling on the M45 is effective and respectable.

Naturally, safety plays an important part in the 2004 Infiniti M45. This car is offered with standard four-wheel anti-lock brakes, front and rear head airbags, as well as front side mounted airbags. Stability and traction control are part of the safety package as well. The M45 also features driver and passenger head restraints designed to reduce the likelihood of severe whiplash in the event of an accident. The tire pressure monitoring system helps ensure the car’s tires are never as low on pressure as to contribute to a dangerous situation.
