The 2008 Isuzu I-370 belongs to the I-Series midsize pickup truck lineup manufactured and marketed by Japanese automaker Isuzu Motors. The model number in the I-Series refers to engine displacement of the vehicle. The Isuzu I-Series of pick-up trucks were nominated for several awards and recognitions by organizations related to the industry. The 2006 i-350 model was renamed as I-370 in 2007. The 2008 models are the last models of I-Series pick-up trucks manufactured by Isuzu Motors as the company decided to quit the American Market.

What's New

Entering its last year of production, the Isuzu I-370 has largely remained unchanged. The company has introduced minor changes in availability of the features in different Isuzu I-370 models.

The overall appearance of Isuzu I-370 is similar to GMC Canyon and Chevy Colorado. The main distinguishable exterior features of Isuzu I-370 include a bold grille that constitutes three wide bars: two vertical and one horizontal with chrome finish bumpers.

The extended cab model has two small reverse opening doors for easy access to the jump seats at the back. The Crew Cab model has four standard-size doors. Based on a wheelbase of 126.1 inches, the Isuzu I-370 extended cab model measures 207.1 inches long overall, 67.6 inches wide, stands 64.9 inches tall, and weighs around 3567 pounds. The Crew Cab model has similar dimensions but stands bit taller at 65.2 inches.

The interior of Isuzu I-370 is simple and mostly focuses on function and utility. The quality of the material used is acceptable. The controls given for stereo control and climate control are big and helpful in easy adjustment. The Isuzu I-370 LS is equipped with a fair list of comfort and convenience features such as leather steering wheel, air-conditioning, front and rear floor mats, front reading lights, passenger vanity mirror, cargo area light, cruise control, and power steering.

Customers buying the Crew Cab model of Isuzu I-370 can add more comfort features by opting for Limited Package that features power and heated front seats, leather upholstery, auto-dimming rearview mirror with a compass and in-dash six-CD changer. The Crew Cab model also features a 60/40 split rear bench that can seat three people in upright position. The extended cab model features two tiny jump seats at the back.

Performance & Handling

The truck is powered with a 3.7-liter five-cylinder engine mated with four-speed automatic. The engine cranks 242 horsepower and 242 lb-ft of torque that is adequate to get around the town and countryside or to tow 5500 pounds or carry a payload of 1532 pounds. The four-speed automatic transmission presents firm and timely shifts. Overall, the Isuzu I-370 presents a comfortable, smooth, and quiet ride.

The Isuzu I-370 has earned high ratings in crash tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The I-370 managed to receive the highest five-star rating for passenger and driver safety in frontal impact. It also received a four-star rating for front passenger safety and a five-star rating for rear passenger safety in side impact tests.

The Isuzu I-370 LS extended cab model comes equipped with fair list of safety features and equipment that includes four-wheel anti-lock braking system, dusk sensing headlamps, remote anti-theft alarm system, and engine immobilizer. It also comprises passenger airbag occupant sensing deactivation, ventilated front disc / rear drum brakes, daytime running lights, electronic brake force distribution, front fog/driving lights, two front headrests, and front integrated headrests.

The Isuzu I-370 Crew Cab model is equipped with all safety features provided as standard in the extended cab model and some additional features such as front and rear integrated headrests and traction control.
