For many motorists, there's nothing quite like look, feel and driving comfort of a Jaguar.
The 2007 Jaguar X-Type is a carryover design from 2006. This entry level luxury car proudly carries the Jaguar tradition of solid elegance forward into the 21st century.
The power plant remains the same for 2007. The powerful 3 liter six produces 227 horsepower and 206 pound feet of torque. Jaguar's five-speed automatic is the only transmission available, as the five-speed manual was dropped in 2006.
The Sportwagon's standard equipment list now includes a memory driver seat, premium sound system, rain-sensing windshield wipers and a wood-and-leather-trimmed steering wheel.
The X-Type sedan we tested includes the luxury package which adds a host of special features to the already impressive selection of standard equipment you'll find on the 2007 X-Type and $2,400 to the price tag. The luxury package includes 17" wheels, chrome mirror caps, rain-sensing wipers, a seat and mirror memory system, burl walnut trimmed facia and 10-way adjustable heated front seats. For 2007, the moonroof and a split folding rear seat are now standard on the 3.0 sedan. A 320 watt Alpine audio system is optional.
All X-Types are typical Jaguar when you climb inside... soft leather upholstery, automatic climate control and one touch windows. There's a full package of passive safety features including seat-mounted front-side airbags, side-curtain airbags, 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with brake-force distribution and dynamic stability control.
The base sticker price for the 2007 Jaguar X-Type sedan is $34,995. Add the luxury package, Alpine audio, navigation system and a few more of the available options and you could take the as-delivered price to $40,000 or more.
The X-Type wagon starts at $39,995 and heads on up from there.
Jaguars have always had sensual style, an unmistakable profile that can be confused with no other car, and a certain patina of British aristocracy that can't be duplicated. The 2007 Jaguar X-Type possesses all of the above in a practical, every day execution that's hard to resist.
