What's New

The 2011 Jeep Compass shows off an updated style and a nicer interior, and it boasts improved handling over previous models. Additionally, the Off-Road package improves the model’s off-road abilities.

Exterior

The Limited edition 2011 Jeep Compass comes standards with 18-inch alloy wheels, full power accessories, daytime running lamps, a universal remote transmitter, chrome exterior accents, mechanical center differential, electronic hi-lo gear selection, automatic locking hubs, a trip computer, automatic climate control, and air filtration.

Standard equipment also includes variable intermittent wipers, a rear window wiper, a roof rack, a fixed liftgate window, a rear liftgate door, a brake hill holder, four-wheel ABS (Antilock Braking System), power steering, power windows, remote power door locks, and power heated mirrors.

Optional equipment includes an engine block heater, a media center, UConnect Voice Command with Bluetooth capability, premium sound, satellite radio, trailer tow prep group, P215/65R17 all-terrain tires, and supplemental front-seat side airbags. Other optional packages help customize your vehicle to meet your needs.

Interior

Interior features include alloy interior trim, leather upholstery, a six-way heated power driver’s seat with manual lumbar support, a tilt adjustable steering wheel with cruise control functions, front and rear head airbags, emergency braking assist, ventilated front disc and rear drum brakes, engine immobilizer, fog lights, stability control with a rollover sensor, traction control, electronic brakeforce distribution, premium cloth seats, improved door trim, a split-folding rear seatback, rear ventilation ducts, cruise control, air-conditioning, interior air filtration, a tachometer, external temperature display, and an AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio system with four speakers.

The Latitude package features heated front seats, driver’s seat adjustment for height, reclining rear seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio control functions.

The Compass’s Off-Road Package lets you travel off the beaten path when participating in outdoor activities. The 22.7 cubic feet of cargo space allows you to haul equipment for camping and hiking, and it comfortably handles a week’s worth of groceries and the kids’ sporting equipment. You can fold down the rear seatbacks (to increase the cargo capacity to 53.6 cubic feet) and fold down the front passenger seat to haul long items.

The Sun and Sound Group adds upgraded speakers, a sunroof, and satellite radio (in the base model). The Media Center includes a hard-drive-based navigation system, a USB jack, and digital music storage.

Performance & Handling

The base model includes a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The Limited version of the Jeep Compass comes equipped with a 2.4-liter, 178 hp, four-cylinder engine and a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). The CVT offers improved acceleration and fuel economy.

Buyers who want four-wheel drive can have it installed with the optional 2.4-liter, 172 hp engine and five-speed manual transmission. An Off-Road package offers gearing improvements, increased ground clearance, all-terrain tires, and skid plates. Four-wheel drive can be locked in, instead of on-demand. If locked in, torque increases to the rear wheels to improve off-road traction.

The Freedom-Drive II Off-Road package includes four-wheel drive that engages power to the rear wheels when additional traction is necessary, along with hill ascent/descent assist, tow hooks, and height adjustment on the driver’s seat.

Safety

The 2011 Compass includes stability control, traction control, full-length side curtain airbags, and optional front-seat side airbags.
