The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is a midsize crossover SUV that offers seating for five. An award-winning vehicle, the base Laredo model was named "Best of the Best–Truck Award" and included as one of the "Top 10 Cars of 2011–Auto Excellence Award for Off-Road Ability" by automotive magazines.

This year’s Grand Cherokee offers more passenger room, and changes to the cockpit and storage areas improve the look and functionality of the vehicle.


Standard equipment on the Laredo includes 17-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, variable intermittent wipers, a rear defogger, power windows and door locks, heated mirrors, fog lights, dusk-sensing headlights, stability control, traction control, electronic brakeforce distribution, and tire pressure monitoring. Optional equipment includes a power sunroof, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, and a trailer tow group.


The interior features include power steering, a tilt/telescoping leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio and cruise control functions, cruise control, a rear window wiper, a roof rack, a manual flip-up liftgate window, a rear liftgate door, a brake hill holder, four-wheel ABS (Antilock Braking System), front and rear head airbags, dual front side-mounted airbags, emergency braking assist, ventilated front disc/solid rear disk brakes, engine immobilizer, an eight-way power driver’s seat with adjustable lumbar support and height adjustment, cloth upholstery, a fold-flat passenger seat, a split-folding rear seatback, reclining rear seats, a front console with storage, dual-zone air-conditioning, a tachometer, a trip computer, external temperature display, wiring for telephone use, and an AM/FM/CD/MP3/Satellite 66-watt audio system with six speakers. Optional features include a media center with DVD, HD radio, a navigation system, and nine speakers.

Performance & Handling

The base Laredo model comes equipped with a 3.6-liter, 290 hp V-6 engine and a five-speed shiftable automatic transmission. The Limited offers a 3.6-liter, 360 hp V-6 engine and five-speed shiftable automatic transmission.


Safety features on the Jeep Grand Cherokee include four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, stability control, traction control, active front head restraints, front side airbags, and side curtain airbags. The model received a “Good” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in both frontal-offset and side crash tests, as well as in roof strength tests.
