The 2007 Kia Optima has two trim levels, the LX and the EX. Each 2007 Kia Optima model comes with the choice of a six- or four-cylinder engine. The LX base model has 16-inch steel wheels, chrome grille, variable intermittent wipers, and heated outside mirrors. The upper-level LX V-6 gets the 16-inch alloy wheels with dual exhaust outlets. The top 2007 Kia Optima EX models have foglights, chrome door handles, and 16-inch alloy wheels. The Appearance package adds 17-inch alloy wheels, blacked-out headlights, and blacked-out foglights. Adding a sunroof is also optional.
The 2007 Kia Optima's interior has an elegance that goes beyond any of its predecessors. It has glowing blue gauges and interesting textures that give the cabin a look and feel of high quality. Legroom is excellent for both front and rear seat passengers with nicely-padded cushions and well-shaped, comfortable seats. The 2007 Kia Optima trunk will hold plenty of items up to 14.8 cubic feet. Many features are available for enhancing the interior as well.
Beginning with the 2007 Kia Optima LX, standard features include air-conditioning, full power accessories, six-speaker CD player stereo, adjustable driver seat, and interior air filtration. Adding to the features on the automatic transmission LX models will be floor mats, cruise control, keyless entry, and audio controls on the telescoping steering wheel.
The higher-level 2007 Kia Optima EX includes automatic climate control, power driver seat, an in-dash CD changer with an upgraded stereo, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and trip computer. Optional packages include other interior features like adjustable pedals, heated front seats, power passenger seat, and aluminum interior trim.
Performance & Handling
The 2007 Kia Optima is equipped with a 2.4-liter engine making 162 horsepower with 164 lb-ft of torque coupled with a manual five-speed transmission on the four-cylinder LX. Standard with the four-cylinder EX and optional with the LX is the automatic five-speed transmission. An automatic transmission comes standard with the optional 2.7-liter V-6 that can produce 185 hp with 182 lb-ft torque. The 2007 Kia Optima front-wheel drive equipped with the V-6 will not be super-fast, but the fuel economy is excellent. 2007 Kia Optima acceleration testing was performed, and the V-6 takes around nine seconds to reach 60 mph from a standstill.
2007 Kia Optima standard features include anti-whiplash restraints, side airbags, tire monitor for pressure, and complete curtain airbags. Disc brakes come standard on LX models; however, ABS is not available. If an automatic transmission is ordered for the LX, a Stability Package that's offered includes traction control, anti-lock brakes, and stability control. This same package is an optional feature for the LX V-6 and all EX trim levels. The EX also has optional adjustable pedals. In National Highway Traffic Safety Administration tests, the 2007 Kia Optima sedan has been awarded five stars for occupant protection in side and front crashes.
