2013 Lexus CT 200h Review
Reviewed by Automotive on
Vehicle OverviewYou can't look anyway on the road anymore without seeing a Toyota Prius every few miles. No matter what you're personal opinion (if any) is towards the Toyota Prius, there's no arguing the fact that fuel economy figures are in its own league. So, what are you supposed to do if you want a hatchback from a luxury brand, but demand fuel economy better than 40 mpg? No problem! The 2013 Lexus CT 200h is here to fill that void, but not for too much longer.
A base model will only be offered and a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine is rated at 134 horsepower. A couple of electric motors help the gasoline engine to drum up some power, as well. This engine/electric motor combination is mated to a continuously variable transmission. Only a base Lexus CT 200h model will be offered for 2013.
We hosted the 2012 Lexus CT 200h for a week last year (http://www.automotive.com/lexus/ct-200h/2012/road-test/ ), and let's just say Lexus' decision to pull the plug isn't a bad one. After amassing over 17,500 sales in North America last year, the most among itself, Europe, and Japan, Lexus has decided to halt production of the hybrid hatchback. For its final model year on sale stateside, only a base model will be offered for the Lexus CT 200h.
New for 2013The Lexus CT 200h remains largely unchanged for the 2013 model year.
