2008 Lexus ES350 Review

The 2008 Lexus ES 350 is a classy sedan with a ton of luxury features, power, and reliability at a decent price.

Reviewed by Automotive on

The 2008 Lexus ES 350 focuses on quality with a classy exterior, a gorgeous interior design, and plenty of power under the hood. When drivers step inside, they leave the world of honking traffic behind and enter a quiet oasis. That quiet comes from its well-insulated cabin; barely any road or traffic noise sneaks in. While sports cars put consumers in direct contact with the road, the ES 350 takes a completely different approach. For it, luxury comes from separation and relaxation.

Many drivers will enjoy the luxury features that come standard in the ES 350. To maximize comfort, add a package of optional features. The heated and ventilated front seats are particularly attractive and comfortable. While this sedan has a pretty reasonable price, those extras add up quickly.

What's New

The 2008 Lexus ES 350 has improved interior lighting and sleeker side-view mirrors.

The 2008 Lexus ES 350 has a classy exterior that avoids flashiness while letting everyone know that it is a luxury sedan. The Lexus logo sits front and center on the grille, which adds to the car's classic aesthetic. It's the kind of vehicle that doesn't attract a lot of attention from muscle car enthusiasts and young drivers. Instead, it speaks directly to drivers who understand that quality doesn't need to advertise itself over a bullhorn.

Slip into the 2008 Lexus ES 350 and drivers will immediately know why Lexus has such a good reputation for high-quality design. All of the plastic, metal, leather, and wooden components have been carefully crafted of the finest materials, creating a luxurious interior that looks and feels great.

Of course, they get plenty more than quality materials. Ten-way power front seats, a power tilt and telescoping steering wheel, eight-speak stereo system, and dual-zone automatic climate control all come standard on the 2008 Lexus ES 350. Some of the optional features that are worth consideration include satellite radio, a Mark Levinson surround-sound audio and video system, voice-activated navigation system, and heated/ventilated front seats.

The 2008 ES 350 has enough room to accommodate three passengers in the back seat, making it easy to fit five adults comfortably. You also get 14.7 cubic feet of trunk space with a pass-through that makes it easy to transport long items or gain access to the trunk from the rear seat.

Performance & Handling

The 2008 Lexus ES 350 has a 3.5-liter V-5 engine that offers 272 hp and 254 lb-ft of torque. Given the chance, it can go from zero to 60 mph in just over seven seconds. That's not exactly sports car speed, but it's very good for a sedan.

It also has excellent handling thanks to a responsive steering system that puts the driver in control of the car. The 2008 Lexus ES 350 also makes it easy to pay attention to the road; it has a remarkably smooth ride and shields just about every unwanted noise from the road.

The 2008 ES 350 has plenty of safety features, including front-seat side and full-length side curtain airbags and dual front knee airbags. Rear-seat side airbags also come standard, and a pre-collision system is optional. The 2008 Lexus ES 350 has earned terrific scores in crash tests. The government gave it five out of five stars for driver- and passenger-side front impacts. It also got five stars for front-occupant protection and four of five stars for the rear.
