Overview

The 2005 Lexus LS430 makes one of the best choices for a luxury sedan. It marks considered the flagship vehicle of the entire Lexus line. Various automotive publications, such as Motor Trend, regularly deem the Lexus LS ?the best car money can buy.? This reigning title gets attached to the LS430 for very good reason. The power and handling combine to make a vehicle that has plenty of maneuvering power embraced in a sleek and luxurious exterior. Balance is truly the name of the game for the LS430, as it combines Lexus’ luxury with plenty of performance features. Moreover, the LSs also enjoy a reputation of longevity, with most of the vehicles lasting upwards of 250,000 miles. As with most other Lexus models, the LS requires almost no maintenance for the first 100,000 miles of its life. Such reliability and minimal care requirements make the 2005 Lexus LS430 a primary option for a full-size luxury sedan.

What's New

The classically stylish and well-loved Lexus LS430 rarely needs to undergo any kind of major alterations. However, to keep things fresh, the 2004 model shows several modifications to both the exterior and the interior. The 2005 Lexus LS430 carries over these changes without any real alterations of its own. Only, for 2005, Lexus presents the option of 18-inch alloy wheels as a standalone addition.

Exterior

The very stylish and sleek exterior appearance of the 2005 Lexus LS430 marks one of the primary selling points for the vehicle. The 2005 model keeps the same elegant look as the 2004 model with the continuation of the newly redesigned front fenders, headlights, hood, grille, fog lamps, bumpers, and trunk. The overall styling looks chiseled and masculine, but the smooth aerodynamic curves help to even things out for the perfectly balanced luxury appearance. The body measures 197.4 inches in length to promote a look of extended elegance.

Interior

The interior of the 2005 LS430 includes all the primary features that make people stop and take a closer look. The overall style seems elegant and luxurious. Leather upholstery and a genuine wood trim give the cabin a high-class look. The layout of the buttons within the console remains straightforward and simple, yet diverse and capable. Standard features include an in-dash six-CD changer, a 14-way power driver's seat, a 10-way adjustable power front passenger seat, and a memory function which includes the driver's seat, mirrors, and steering wheel. An 11-speaker Mark Levine audio system provides an additional option, along with a fully integrated navigation system. Additionally, the substantial length of the car extends the trunk to a spacious 20.2 cubic feet.

Performance & Handling

The 2005 Lexus LS430 contains a 4.3-liter, V-8 engine producing 290 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque. All of that power gets controlled by a standard six-speed automatic transmission, as Lexus offers no manual transmission option on this model. It moves surprisingly fast, accelerating from zero to 60 mph in only 5.9 seconds. The ride itself stays quiet and smooth thanks to the vibration-free qualities of the powertrain. Even at highway speeds, the LS maintains its smooth ride and quiet interior.

Safety

Safety features remain important aspects of all Lexus vehicles. The LS430 comes with standard anti-lock brakes with brake assist, an electronic stability system, and traction control. It includes side-impact airbags for the front seat and side curtain airbags as well. The most impressive safety feature, the Pre-Collision System, provides a warning, tightens seat belts, and prepares the brake-assist if it senses an imminent collision.
