About the Lexus LS430
Lexus produced the LS430 premium luxury sedan from 2001 to 2006. A redesign of the Lexus LS400, the LS430, provides superior ride quality, a fine interior, and a generous array of features and options. When compared to its predecessor, the LS430 also offers drivers more interior space, higher levels of comfort, better performance, more features, and even a more edgy design. The LS430 may lack the performance qualities of similar vehicles produced by BMW or Audi, but the LS430 focuses more on luxury and comfort than anything else. If there is one factor that might have given some drivers pause in regard to the LS430, it is the car’s price tag. However, thanks to market depreciation, price no longer presents an issue when it comes to previously-owned models.Lexus LS430 Features
2006 was the final year that Lexus produced the LS430. For that year the LS430 came in a single, well-equipped trim level. Standard features on this model include 17-inch wheels, adaptive headlamps that swivel when cornering, dual-zone climate control, a 14-way power driver seat, a 10-way power front passenger seat, auto dimming mirrors, a dash-mounted CD changer, a moonroof, a rear sunshade, and a power trunk closer. Additional options include improved leather interior, heated and cooled front seats, a voice-activated navigation system, a rear back-up camera, and a 240-watt premium audio system by Mark Levinson. The Custom Luxury package contains all of the above options along with back-seat heaters and power door closers.
Other additional options include laser-based adaptive cruise control, or a radar-based system, that detects collision and prepares for impacts when unavoidable. Additionally, an Ultra Luxury package features all of the aforementioned extras along with a keyless ignition, Lexus link telematics, a smooth riding air suspension, upgraded power-adjustable heated and cooled rear seats, and a separate climate control system.
The rear drive 2006 Lexus LS430 contains a 4.3-liter V-8 engine that produces 278 horsepower and 312 lb-ft of torque. Transmission options are limited to a six-speed automatic.
Standard safety features include side airbags, head curtain airbags, knee airbags, four-wheel anti-lock brakes, traction control, BrakeAssist, VSC stability control, and a tire pressure monitor. Additional safety options include the aforementioned radar-based Pre-Collision system, which prepares for impacts by tightening seatbelts, applying the brakes, and activating the sport mode on models equipped with air suspension.
The interior of the 2006 LS430 is warm and opulently appointed with high-quality leather upholstery and wooden trim. The gauges are sharp and electroluminescent. The car’s seats offer comfort and plentiful headroom and legroom in both the front and back seats. The vehicle also has a large trunk that can store 20.2 cubic feet of luggage.
One criticism of the Lexus LS430 is that it doesn’t provide the same level of performance that many competing models do. However, one can also argue that the LS430 does not aim to be a performance model. The car provides a smooth ride, a quiet interior, and a suspension capable of absorbing any bumps along the road. These qualities make the 2006 Lexus LS430 an ideal vehicle for daily commuting or long-distance road tripping.Lexus LS430 Evolution
Lexus introduced the LS430 in 2001 and made few changes to the model during the model’s run of production that lasted until 2006. Previously owned LS430s generally provide drivers with the same high-quality luxury sedan experience as the cars did when they were new. In 2004, Lexus initiated a minor mid-cycle update that included an upgrade of the transmission to a six-speed, the addition of adaptive headlights, knee airbags for front occupants, a standard moonroof, and minor exterior revisions. That same year, Lexus made several new options available including the Pre-Collision system and a keyless ignition. In 2004, Lexus also added the option of a Sport package, which includes 18-inch wheels, an enhanced navigation system, a rearview back-up camera, expanded voice recognition functionality, Bluetooth phone capability, and an upgraded stereo system by Mark Levinson.
