2011 Lexus LS460 Review
Good luxury sedan, but no standout
Reviewed by Automotive on
In a Nutshell
The 2011 Lexus LS 460 luxury sedan is the largest vehicle in its lineup. Offered with either a long or short wheelbase, both the Lexus LS 460 and LS 460 L sport a 4.6 liter V-8, 380 horsepower engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The L configuration has a wheel base five inches longer than the standard configuration, resulting in more rear seat legroom. The Lexus LS 460 hosts a wide variety of creature comforts, such as a 16-setting driver's seat, a heated steering wheel, and a ten speaker stereo system. Standard safety systems and equipment are top-notch, and the fuel economy is 16 mpg city/23-24 mpg highway.
New for 2011
For the 2011 Lexus LS 460, a 12-volt power port was added to the storage area in front of the shifter. Air suspension had been standard on all-wheel drive trims, but now coil suspension is standard and air is optional across the line. A new Sport Package, with sport suspension, brakes, transmission program, and styling cues has debuted.

On the Outside
The Lexus LS is attractive, but it still gets lost in a crowd. The LS 460 standard wheelbase is 116.9 inches, while the LS 460 L long wheelbase is 121.7. The trunk can hold 18.0 cubic-feet of gear.
From the Inside
A smooth, comfortable ride is the one of the strong points of the Lexus LS line. However, as a driver's car, there's something lacking. Testers have referred to this car as being numb and boring. The LS 460 reached 60 mph in 5.8 seconds and brakes in 120 feet from 60 mph. Suspension is on the soft side, but handling is still admirable.
Driving Performance
A smooth ride is the one of the strong points of the LS line. When it comes to being a driver's car, however, that part of the experience is somewhat lacking. Testers have referred to this car as being numb and uninvolving. The LS 460 reached 60 mph in 5.8 seconds (600h L took 5.6) and brakes in 120 feet from 60 mph (122 in 600h L). Suspension is on the soft side, but handling is still respectable.
Safety Equipment
Standard on the Lexus LS lineup are dual front airbags, dual front side airbags, front-passenger twin-chamber airbag, side curtain airbags, and dual front knee airbags. Also standard are disc brakes with four-channel ABS, electronic brake-force distribution, and stability control.
