2013 Lexus LS600h Review

Reviewed by Automotive on

Vehicle Overview

The 2013 Lexus LS 600h features a 5.0-liter V-8 hybrid engine. We're just going to leave that there and let it sink in for a little bit. After the initial shock wears off, the next thought that probably crept into your mind is that the 2013 Lexus LS 600h doesn't get very good fuel economy, and you'd be right. At 19 mpg city and 23 mpg highway, it doesn't appear that that whole hybrid function is really making its presence known. All that doesn't matter though because if you can afford something that costs more than $100,000, things like fuel economy aren't important. This so-called hybrid's engine is mated to a continuously variable transmission, with power numbers checking in at 389 horsepower, and two additional electric motors chipping in, too.

In keeping with the rest of Lexus' lineup, the LS 600h now features the spindle grille, a tweaked hood, headlights, and front fenders. An F-Sport model will also be offered for the LS for the first time ever, as well. Out of all the luxury liners currently available, only Audi and Mercedes-Benz have a performance version of its large sedan. Both of the aforementioned brands high-performance large sedans can actually cash the checks written by its special badging, too. We're anxious to get our hands on the Lexus LS F-Sport once it becomes available to see how it measures up with similar models. As mentioned above, this hybrid LS sports a 5.0-liter V-8 engine, good for 389 horsepower power, and 19 mpg city/23 mpg highway.
