Performance & Handling
The 2006 Lexus LX470 has similar underpinning as the Toyota Land Cruiser, but it is much more powerful. A 4.7-liter, V-8 engine that produces 275 horsepower with 323 lb-ft of torque is under the hood. The vehicle is four-wheel drive. The engine is wed to a five-speed automatic transmission that has a low speed gearing for off-road driving. The new engine solves the old problem of feeling underpowered. The 2006 Lexus LX470 can now tow up to 5000 pounds when properly equipped.
The 2006 Lexus LX470 feels great both on road and off road. The double wishbone suspension gives the driver a lot of control when dealing with curves and bumpy surfaces. The Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) system allows you to choose between four different suspension modes when driving. Each mode adjusts the shock absorbers according to the type of driving style. This is one vehicle that is adaptable in almost all driving situations.
The 2006 Lexus LX470 comes well-equipped for safety. Standard features include four-wheel anti-lock brakes, seat-mounted side airbags, side curtain airbags, and front and rear head airbags. The anti-lock braking system also has BrakeAssist and Electronic Brake Distribution to prevent accidents. Also included is a tire pressure monitoring system. Stability control, traction control, multi-adjustable headrests, rear center three-point seat belts, child seat anchors, an anti-theft alarm system, and front seatbelt pretensioners.
The 2006 Lexus LS 470 was not tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for front or side crashes.
