The 2007 Lexus SC430 classifies as a luxury convertible. Although it claims to seat four passengers, only two fit comfortably because of the confined back seat.
Body Styles: hardtop convertible
Engines: 4.3-liter V-8
Transmissions: six-speed shiftable automatic
Models: Lexus SC430
New features for the 2007 Lexus SC430 include a single-blade front windshield wiper and driver and front-passenger knee airbags.
The 2007 Lexus SC430 features a power hardtop that retracts into the trunk in 21 seconds. Offering a wheelbase of 103.1 inches and just 5.6 inches of ground clearance, the compact convertible is low-slung and sporty. It features adaptive, xenon HID headlights that swivel to provide illumination when driving through curves.
Standard equipment includes 18-inch alloy wheels with 245/40R Z performance tires, variable intermittent wipers, power door locks, power windows, power heated mirrors with reverse tilt for a curb view, and a rear defogger. Options include run-flat tires and a rear spoiler. The Pebble Beach edition features a unique interior finish, exclusive paint colors, and exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels.
The SC430 seats four, but practically speaking, the back seat seems too small even for small children. The convertible top takes up most of the trunk’s 8.8 cubic feet of cargo space with the top down, so the back seat accommodates luggage.
Featuring leather and wood interior accents, the 2007 Lexus SC430 looks luxurious. The cabin comes equipped with easily readable gauges and a LCD display screen for the car’s DVD-based navigation system. The leather upholstery feels rich and the seats well-bolstered. Passengers have no legroom in the rear seat.
Amenities include 10-way power heated driver and passenger seats with power lumbar support and height adjustment, bucket front seats, cruise control, a front console with storage, a first aid kit, retained accessory power, speed-proportional power steering, a universal remote transmitter, a 12V power outlet, a leather and wood tilt and telescopic steering wheel with audio and cruise control functions, interior air filtration, dual-zone climate controls, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, memory settings for two drivers, a tachometer, a trip computer, external temperature display, a compass, voice activation for the navigation system, pre-wiring for cell phone use, and a 240-watt premium Mark Levinson audio system with an AM/FM stereo and a six-disc CD changer with nine speakers, a subwoofer, and a radio data system.
Performance & Handling
The 2007 Lexus SC430 employs a 4.3-liter, V-8 engine that generates 288 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. Its all-aluminum engine includes VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence). A six-speed shiftable automatic transmission offers sequential shifting. The zero-to-60-mph sprint time for the SC430 reaches 5.8 seconds. The suspension works to keep the occupants unaware of bumps in the road, making the ride extremely quiet and luxurious. The SC430 offers supreme comfort; if you want a convertible sports car, you could find a better option.
Vehicle Skid Control comes with a switch to turn off the stability control system in order to experience cornering in a more aggressive manner.
Standard safety equipment for the LX SC430 includes four-wheel ABS, emergency braking assist, electronic brake force distribution, tire pressure monitoring, stability control, traction control, driver and front-passenger knee airbags, seat-mounted side-impact airbags, double wishbone front and rear independent suspensions, front and rear stabilizer bars, ventilated front disc and solid rear disc brakes, daytime running lights, fog lights, a remote anti-theft alarm system with an engine immobilizer, high pressure headlight washers, and auto delay-off and dusk-sensing headlights with self-leveling.
