2010 Lincoln MKX Review

Luxury crossover SUV heavy on luxury, curb weight

Reviewed by Automotive on

In a Nutshell
The 2010 Lincoln MKX is a luxury crossover sport utility vehicle (SUV). Powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 engine paired to a six-speed automatic transmission, the Lincoln MKX provides a choice of front- or all-wheel drive. With the optional Trailer Tow Package, the MKX can tow as much as 3,500 pounds.

Equipped a well-appointed cabin loaded with standard features, the Lincoln MKX is great for running around town and tame off-road excursions. The luxury SUV boasts a Sirius Travel Link to provide road guidance and detailed traffic information. Fuel economy is in the 17 mpg city / 23 mpg highway range, but the MKX crossover does have good safety ratings.

New for 2010

For 2010, the Lincoln MKX receives updated option packages: Midnight Limited Edition and Ultimate Edition.

Engine: 3.5L V-6
Transmission: 6-speed automatic
Body Style: Crossover SUV
Trim: Base Sport Utility

On the Outside

The Lincoln MKX fascia is similar to the big Navigator SUV, and in the rear, its tailgate is accented by a rear light that runs the vehicle's width.

From the Inside

While the Lincoln MKX's overall design is truck-like and not particularly suited for a luxury crossover, it has an attractive cabin, with luxury options, such as a 12-speaker, 600-watt THX-certified audio system and Vista Roof panoramic sunroof.

Driving Performance

Even though the all-aluminum 3.5-liter V-6 engine has 266 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque, when combined with the Lincoln MKX's two-ton-plus curb weight, the power is adequate but not great and puts a damper on handling and braking. Thus, the quality of the ride is favored over the dynamics of on-road performance.

Safety Equipment

Standard safety features on the Lincoln MKX include antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, front side airbags, and side curtain airbags.

Gas Mileage

FWD: 18 mpg city/25 mpg highway
