As one may expect, there is a price for this level of luxury. Regardless of the chosen model, buyers can be sure that purchasing a Mercedes-Benz CL-Class truly makes a statement.
New For 2013
Poised for a redesign in 2014, there are basically no changes for the CL-Class in 2013.
The 2013 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class luxurious sport coupe has distinct styling with elegant lines and a well-appointed trim. It is a true coupe, without the pillar between the front and back windows, allowing for more panoramic visibility. The 2013 CL-Class vehicles all include Active Curve bi-xenon headlights, LED taillamps, and daytime running lamps.
Each model comes with its own unique wheel choice. The CL550 takes the road with 18-inch, five-spoke wheels; the CL600 features 19-inch, multispoke wheels; the CL63 boasts a 20-inch, AMG, twin five-spoke wheels; and finally the CL65 is only slightly different from the CL63 with a 20-inch, AMG, forged twin five-spoke. True to its classic reputation, body paint is only available in stylish blacks, grays, and silvers.
Interior & Cargo
One of the hallmarks of a Mercedes-Benz is the exquisite cabin. Stylish appointments and state-of-the-art comforts make the 2013 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class almost as fun to ride in as it is to drive. The roomy inner cabin of the CL-Class seats four with a pair of front bucket seats and two rear seats with a full-length center console extending through the cabin. All of the upholstery is high-quality leather and the cabin is lined with real wood trim. Standard comfort and convenience features include 12-way power seats, dual-zone climate control, heated seats, active massaging seats, a heated steering wheel, a power rear-window sunshade, and a power tilt/sliding glass sunroof.
The infotainment system in the CL-Class is top-of-the-line with Mercedes-Benz's COMAND system, with voice-controlled navigation, an eight-inch LCD widescreen, Harman Kardon premium sound, DVD/CD playback, Sirius XM satellite radio, HD radio stations, auxiliary and Bluetooth integration, and a 7.2GB Music Register for music file storage.
Cargo space is average for this type of vehicle at 13.5 cubic feet of trunk space.
As with everything else in the 2013 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class, the safety features receive delicate and purposeful attention. With all of the latest in safety technology built in, the CL-Class brings the following standard safety features: 11-way airbag protection, a passenger airbag cut-off sensor, Neck-Pro active front head restraints, Attention Assist anti-drowsiness detection, Pre-Safe collision detection and mitigation, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, a four-wheel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), AMG two-stage electronic stability, electronic brake assist, and tire pressure monitoring are also included in the standard configuration of the CL-Class. Mercedes-Benz’s DISTRONIC PLUS active cruise control system is also available, which predicts traffic conditions and automatically adjusts the rate of acceleration. Though there are no crash-test ratings on file for the 2013 CL-Class, one can be sure that it would rate highly in all categories based on other models with Mercedes-Benz engineering and the long list of cutting-edge safety features.
There is no experience quite like driving the Mercedes-Benz CL-Class coupe. The 2013 CL-Class vehicles all sport their own unique, high-performance engine. The CL550 4Matic can hardly be called the ""base"" model with a 429-hp, 4.6-liter V-8 and a seven-speed automatic transmission with Touchshift manual shift control. The CL600 is powered by a 510-hp, bi-turbo, 5.5-liter V-12 and a five-speed automatic transmission with Touchshift manual shift control. The CL63 AMG uses a 536-hp, 5.5-liter V-8 and a seven-speed automatic transmission with AMG Speedshift manual shift control. Finally, the high-performance CL65 AMG includes a powerful 621-hp, bi-turbo, 6.0-liter V-12 paired with a five-speed automatic transmission with AMG Speedshift manual shift control. Even with the 4.6-liter V-8, drivers will speed from zero to 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds. The high-powered 6.0-liter V-12 goes from zero to 60 mph in a mind-blowing 4.2 seconds. No matter which engine is chosen, it is sure to leave drivers stunned and exhilarated.
The powerful engines, however, do translate into lower fuel economy. The CL600 and CL65 both come in at 12/18 mpg city/highway while the V-8s in the CL550 and the CL63 AMG do only slightly better at 15/22 mpg city/highway.
