The Mercedes-Benz CLK feels right in just about any role. It's good looking, stylish, sporty to drive and personal, yet...
The CLK 350 Cabriolet is the German automaker's entry into the very competitive up-scale, top-down, four passenger genre that features some of the finest offerings from the world's best car companies.
The CLK 350's most outstanding attribute is its insulated power soft top that operates with the push of a single button and stows neatly beneath the rear deck panel. The CLK presents an aggressive stance highlighted up front by the traditional Mercedes-Benz grille flanked by variable focus halogen headlight clusters. The beltline sweeps back and upward terminating in a raised rear deck that incorporates a subtle rear spoiler. Further enhancing the design is 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels shod with ultra low profile; high-performance rated all-season radial tires.
The single power-train option includes a 3.5 Liter 24-valve, DOHC V-6 the produces 268 horse power and 258 pounds feet of torque. Power is routed to the rear wheels via a 6-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission that allows selectable-sequential or fully automatic shifting. The CLK is equipped with power-assisted 4-wheel disc brakes with brake-assist technology and ABS.
The aggressive stance of the CLK is backed-up by a 0-60 time of 6.7 seconds which is more than acceptable for a V-6 powered automobile with a curb weight of just under 4,000 pounds. And while it does require premium fuel the EPA rates fuel mileage at 19 MPG City and 28 on the highway.
Driver and passengers experience traditional Mercedes comfort in an interior that features leather and wood trim throughout and power operation of virtually everything from seats and windows to the multi-function leather wrapped steering wheel. State of the art air bags are featured as well as premium audio and navigation systems.
With an MSRP of just about $55,000 the Mercedes-Benz CLK 350 is a strong contender in the very competitive luxury cabriolet market segment.
