At first glance, the Mercedes CLS appears to be a 2-door exotic sports car. But a closer look reveals that this is a 4-door, 4-seat, high performance luxury sedan that Mercedes actually designates as a "four door coupe."
For 2009 the CLS has been updated, with a new two bar grille, new rear bumper and revised taillights. Inside, a sporty 3-spoke steering wheel is new, while the center console divides the rear seats and lets occupants know that this is a 2+2 coupe, and not a sedan.
Power in the CLS550 trim comes from a 382 horsepower 5.5-liter V8, while the CLS63 AMG is powered by a massive 507 horsepower 6.2-liter V8. A 7-speed automatic transmission sends all of this power to the rear wheels.
Fuel economy ranges from 12 miles per gallon city, up to 21 miles per gallon highway, depending on engine choice.
Base MSRP for the 2009 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class is $70,700. A fully loaded CLS63 AMG can cost as much as $120,000. The CLS-Class is backed by a 4-year, 50,000-mile power train warranty.
The 2009 Mercedes-Benz CLS executive coupe has the practicality of 4-doors, the power to run with the best performance machines, and standout styling that takes this four door coupe to a whole new level.
