The 2007 Mercury Mariner comes in three trims: the Premier Mariner, the Luxury Mariner and the Convenience Mariner. This lineup presents the potential buyers with a better selection of vehicles. The 2005 Mercury Mariner’s standard engine is now a more-powerful, 2.3-liter, four-cylinder engine, and a 3.0-liter, V-6 engine is also available in the Luxury Mariner and the Premier Mariner trims.


The 2007 Mercury Mariner is a basic vehicle with spacious dimensions, at 70.1 inches in width, 69.7 inches in height, 174.9 inches in length, and eight inches of ground clearance. It runs on a 103.1-inch wheelbase with 29.3 cubic feet of cargo capacity when the seats fitted for passenger occupancy, which expands to 66.3 cubic feet of maximum cargo room when the seats are collapsed. It has a maximum towing capacity of 1500 pounds when the right towing equipment is installed. It comes with all-season tires fitted on 16-inch alloy wheels, a rear defogger on the manual lift gate window, a rear window wiper, and has variable intermittent wipers.


The 2007 Mercury Mariner comes with front bucket seats done in premium cloth materials – an upgrade from the unimpressive plastic of its predecessors. It has 40.4 inches of headroom, 53.5 inches of hip room, 41.6 inches of legroom, and 56.5 inches of shoulder room in the front. The rear is fitted with a split-folding bench seat, which affords more cargo room when it is lifted. It comes with 49.1 inches of hip room, 39.2 inches of headroom, 36.3 inches of legroom, and 55.9 inches of shoulder room in the rear. The convenience features on the 2007 Mercury Mariner interior include power mirrors, power windows, and power steering fitted to a leather-covered, tilt-adjustable, telescoping steering wheel mounted with cruise and audio controls. It comes with plenty of storage spots, such as the front storage console, front and rear cup holders, door pockets on the front doors, front seatback pocket storage, and air-conditioning is standard on all trims. There is lighting for the cargo room, reading lights in the front and in the rear, and dual vanity mirrors in the front. The driver panel on the dashboard comes with such signals as low fuel, low battery, low engine oil, and low tire pressure among other warnings. Lastly, the Mariner comes standard with a clock, an AM/FM radio, and a single-CD player with an MP3-playback stereo player supported by four speakers.

Performance & Handling

The 2007 Mercury Mariner comes in three trims: the Mariner Convenience, the Mariner Luxury, and the Mariner Premier, which is a front-drive, four-speed automatic transmission. The Mariner Convenience is fitted with a 2.3-liter four-cylinder, 200-hp at 6,000 rpm, spewing 152 lb-ft at 4,250 rpm torque with six valves. The Luxury and Premier both come with a 3.0-liter V-6, 153-hp at 5800 rpm, 193 lb-ft of torque at 4850 rpm with 24 valves, and double overhead cam (DOHC).

The 2007 Mercury Mariner comes with MacPherson strut suspension, multi-link suspension in the rear, independent four wheel suspension and a stabilizer bar in the front and rear, and standard Anti-lock Brake Systems (ABS). It also has ventilated front disc brakes and solid rear drum brakes. Additional safety features include an emergency brake-assist system, an engine immobilizer in emergency situations, and an electronic brake force distribution system.


For day-to-day safety fittings, the 2007 Mercury Mariner is fitted with child seat-anchors in the rear seats and the rear doors have child safety locks. There are front and rear overhead airbags and side airbags for protection against a side impact, and all the airbags come with an occupant-sensing deactivation system to protect small persons and children from airbag injuries. It comes with height-adjustable headrests in all the seats, which protect occupants from whiplash in the event of a collision.
