Ford Motor Company has been marketing the Ford Explorer since 1991. This model is a mid-sized SUV that gets 14 MPG in the city and 19 MPG on the highway. This 4-door SUV was probably responsible for the popularity that SUVs gained since it was first introduced. For nearly 15 years this model SUV was the most popular model sold in the United States. For several years this SUV also came in a two-door version, which was discontinued. The Explorer seats seven passengers and has a cargo space when the last row of seats is not in use. The latest model has power folding of the last row of seats. Another new feature is the power assisted running boards for getting in and out of the vehicle. They retract when not in use. This model of Ford has been extremely well received by the public for a number of years.
