A compact premium Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), the Land Rover LR2 was introduced in 2006. The all-wheel drive is powered by a DOHC 3.2L inline-six engine mated with six-speed automatic transmission for the same performance given by a sedan. The LR2 also provides the sturdiness of a SUV with a fully independent suspension and Terrain Response' matched with off-road features like selectable sport mode; CommandShift' manual sequential gear change; Roll Stability Control' for extreme conditions, and enhanced driver control on slippery or steep slopes during break release with patented Gradient Release Control. The driver's seat is also elevated for a 'command driving' position, a distinguishing Land Rover feature, while rear passenger seats offer a better view by being raised slightly higher than front seats. The spacious LR2 offers 26.5 cubic feet of cargo space, which is turned in to a maximum of 59 cubic feet - one of the best from same-class vehicles - by folding down the rear seats. Additional luxuries in the Land Rover LR2 include a two-part sunroof; rain-sensing windshield wipers; bi-xenon headlamps, and adaptive front lighting.
