Saleen Performance EV in the Works
Saleen Automotive, most known for developing technical performance parts and high performance vehicles, has decided to turn over a new leaf. The automaker has decided to create an electric vehicle that shares the performance elements of other vehicles in its lineup. There isn't much in the way of information regarding this new model, but Steve Saleen, CEO of Saleen Automotive, Inc., said in a statement that "We recognize that electric cars are a trend, not a fad and expect this vehicle category to continue to increase as an automotive option for consumers. We intend to enter this market with an offering that is truly innovative and offers the styling and craftsmanship associated with the Saleen Automotive brand." Other performance automakers have taken to this way of thinking like Ferrari and McLaren, who have both produced performance hybrid models. It makes sense that Saleen would move in that direction to stay relevant. Saleen Automotive plans to deliver more information about the new model to the financial and automotive media by early 2014, along with scale models of the electronic vehicle project. Saleen went on to say, "I'm not prepared to give all the details of our electric vehicle project yet but I can tell you that it is unlike anything currently in the marketplace." We can't wait to see what this new model will be. Source: Saleen
