2014 Chevrolet Malibu Awarded NHTSA 5 Star Crash Safety Rating

The updated 2014 Chevrolet Malibu has received a 5 star crash safety rating from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration. The 2014 Malibu features an ultra-high-strength steel safety cage, rollover protection, and 10 standard airbags, including knee airbags for both the driver and front passenger. GM's general director of Vehicle Safety and Crashworthiness, Gay Kent, said "safety is an increasingly important consideration for new buyers, especially those in the midsize segment. The customer is at the center of our day to day operations, and when we design vehicles, it's their safety that we have in mind." The 2014 Chevy Malibu also features other available active safety technologies such as Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning. Side Blind Zone Alert also uses sensors to warn drivers of vehicles entering their blind spot on either side.
We particularly liked the modern and highly styled interior of the Chevrolet Malibu when we drove it, and appreciated the performance of the turbo model during a drive from New Orleans to Key West last year. But among the highly competitive midsize sedan segment, the Malibu was lagging behind the competition. Chevy quickly addressed the issue, and updated the Malibu for the 2014 model year. The 2014 Chevrolet Malibu is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine capable of 196 hp. Start-stop technology--which shuts the engine off at idle to save fuel--is also standard on all models.
