Next-Gen Audi A4 Caught Testing
Autocar has managed to catch spy shots of the new Audi A4 out testing before its 2015 launch in the UK. Even though the A4 cars were covered with heavy camouflage, the magazine was able to spot two distinct models. Both sedan and wagon versions rode around outside of Audi headquarters, but it's only a matter of time before an Allroad edition joins the testers. The size of the new model is relatively close to the current A4 model, but there may be more cargo room, while the hybrid variant will offer a slightly smaller trunk to accommodate the hybrid battery and other components. The new Audi A4 will be the first model to use the modular longitudinal architecture (MLB), which will benefit with weight savings thanks to the introduction of aluminum panels. New features will include a 3D single-frame grille, heavily creased bumpers, a distinguished shoulder line, and trapezoidal LED headlamps. We expect the new A4 to be powered by a line of four- and six-cylinder engines, both gas and diesel, with three new plug-in hybrid powertrain options. All hybrids will feature an updated four-wheel drive eight-speed automatic transmission that will achieve electric-only ranges around 31 miles. It's only a matter of time before we see these new models on U.S. soil. Source: Autocar UK
