2014 Audi A6 and S6 Top NHTSA New Car Assessment Program

By | February 26, 2014
The new 2014 Audi A6 and performance variant S6 sport sedans have earned a 5-star government crash test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the highest possible designation. This was earned by a strong performance in the NHTSA's New Car Assessment Program. When talking about the success during the NHTSA testing, President of Audi America Scott Keogh said in a recent statement that "When Audi engineers set out to make the A6 and S6 models unsurpassed in their class they made safety on of their first priorities. The 5-star rating affirms that commitment to our customers and vehicle safety." Each model is technologically advanced and offers an array of standard and optional safety systems. This greatly helped the A6 and S6 earn top marks for the frontal, side, and rollover tests from the NHTSA, making the Audi A6/S6 the only German mid-sized luxury sedans to be awarded 5 stars in all categories.
Audi currently offers standard impact protection with reinforced high-strength steel and aluminum, reinforced bumpers, a rigid occupant cell, hydraulic brake assist to reduce overall stopping distance, an array of airbags, and crash sensors that automatically unlock doors, activate lights, and switch off engines and fuel pump.
