2014 Dodge Journey Crossroad Special Edition to Debut at 2014 Chicago Auto Show

Back at the turn of this decade, a funny thing happened: Fiat purchased a majority stake in Chrysler, and one of the worst crossovers on the market was refreshed to become a credible, fun-to-drive challenger in a crowded segment. Now, in 2014, as the Dodge Journey nears the end of its life, Chrysler is unveiling the 2014 Dodge Journey Crossroad with new, rugged exterior features to keep it fresh. Positioned between the SXT and Limited models, the 2014 Dodge Journey Crossroad comes with an added layer of silver-colored body cladding, giving it a rough-and-tough sense of style. Black 19-inch wheels provide an added sense of occasion, and blacked-out tail lights further accentuate the robust style Dodge has given its vehicles in recent years. In addition, the interior comes adorned in leather and features Chrysler's 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment screen as standard equipment. Drivetrain features include a standard 173-horsepower, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and front-wheel drive. The standard engine comes paired to a four-speed automatic transmission. However, we can't recommend Chrysler's 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 enough, which comes with 283 horsepower in the Journey and a six-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is available with both engines.
Back when we reviewed a highly optioned 2013 Dodge Journey Crew, we came away impressed with its quality and sense of style, especially for its modest price. Designed in the bleak days of Chrysler, the Journey has since become a darkhorse offering for those who want seating for seven at a great price. It is thought that the Dodge Journey will grow in its next generation, filling a void that will be left as the Chrysler Town & Country minivan is anticipated to be reintroduced in the next generation as Chrysler's sole minivan. In the meantime, it serves as an affordable family vehicle, starting at $25,990, including $995 for destination and handling, in Crossroad guise. Debuting this week at the Chicago Auto Show, the 2014 Dodge Journey Crossroad goes on sale this spring. Source: Dodge
