2012-2013 Volkswagen Passat Recalled for Headlight Issue

By Matthew Askari | March 18, 2014
Volkswagen is recalling 150,201 Passat sedans from the 2012-2013 model years on account of a headlight issue. VW is voluntarily issuing the recall and has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The Issue: It's possible when the hood is closed roughly, or dropped from a certain height, that the low-beam headlight bulb could lose electrical contact. In these cases, a warning in the instrument cluster will appear to alert owners. Without the low-beam light, visibility could be reduced, increasing the possibility of an accident. VW says no related crashes or injuries have been reported on account of the issue. The Fix: Volkswagen will notify all owners of affected vehicles, and owners will be able to schedule an appointment with an authorized VW dealer. Dealers will inspect the bulb, replace the bulb fitting, and replace the hood bumpers if necessary. All services will be performed at no cost to owners. Source: Volkswagen
