Video: 2015 Subaru WRX Gets Sideways in the Snow

By Jacob Brown | March 18, 2014
The Subaru WRX has always been a vehicle we've loved for its sporting pretensions, practical pricing, and all-weather capabilities. Apparently, Automobile Magazine agrees. Taking a 2015 Subaru WRX out for a day in the snow, the magazine quickly reviewed the car's merits in its ability to slide around over top tufts of snow. Its editors liked what they saw. Despite growing heavier and gaining a CVT automatic transmission option, the WRX held its own on the white stuff. It didn't flinch for a minute as it kicked up a huge wave of snow on the road. Perhaps, it's the only reason to be thankful that this polar vortex stuck around so long in much of the U.S.
With sharper reflexes, the 2015 Subaru WRX offsets its added weight with sportier handling and more power courtesy of a new turbocharged 2.0-liter flat-four engine. It also gains a surprising amount of refinement on the road and inside the cabin. But with all of the upgrades, does any of it go towards making the WRX a better car than the one it replaces as a smile-inducing machine of fun? Watch below to see more of the WRX's capabilities in the snow. Source: Automobile via YouTube
