GM to Auction First 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 for Karmanos Cancer Institute

The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will be the most track-capable Vette ever, says Chevy, and it could be yours for a pretty penny. As is the norm with Chevrolet performance cars, GM will auction off the first example to benefit charity. The 2015 Corvette Z06 will raise money for the Karmanos Cancer Institute and will be auctioned off by Barrett-Jackson during its Collector Car Auction in Palm Beach, Florida, on April 12.
Previously, GM auctioned off the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible to benefit the Karmanos Cancer Institute and raised $1 million. The institute is one of 41 National Cancer Institute-designed comprehensive cancer centers in the country, and benefits from the Corvette Z06 auction will be put towards the Institute's infusion center to provide a more soothing environment for patients receiving chemotherapy.
The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 employs a beastly 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine, capable of at least 625 horsepower and a staggering amount of low-end power. The LT4 engine is mated to an eight-speed high-performance automatic transmission or standard seven-speed manual. And to counteract all the extra muscle, the Z06 has also been outfitted with larger Brembo brakes for greater stopping power. Those unable to attend the auction can bid online on Barrett-Jackson's website. The auction house will waive all fees as the bids are for charity. The winner will also receive a letter of authenticity and can select their preferred color for the 2015 Chevrolet Z06. Source: GM Foundation
