2015 Hyundai Sonata Gets Apple CarPlay
The 2015 Hyundai Sonata, which is making its debut at the New York Auto Show this month, will feature Apple CarPlay. The new system is a basic version of iOS optimized for use in the car. Drivers will be able to access maps, music, and messages much like they would on their iPhones. Siri plays a huge role, responding to voice commands so drivers can keep their eyes on the road without having to fiddle with screen controls. Drivers can begin Siri guidance by activating a Voice button on the steering wheel. The Sonata's 8-inch touchscreen can be used in conjunction with Apple phones to operate CarPlay. CarPlay is compatible with iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, and iPhone 5 with the latest version of iOS 7 software. Look for CarPlay on new Sonatas equipped with navigation systems later in the 2015 model year. Hyundai is one of the first, but not only, automakers to introduce CarPlay. Volvo and Mercedes-Benz are rolling out this system in select vehicles. After that, Ferrari and Honda will join the game sometime this year. Thirteen other automakers, including Ford, Chevrolet, Toyota, and BMW, have also committed to using CarPlay for their vehicles sometime in the future. Source: Hyundai
