Fan-Designed Special Edition Mini Hardtop to Debut in New York

By | April 09, 2014
To support the launch of its new Hardtop, Mini asked fans to create their own design package for the vehicle. After sifting through 800 applicants, Mini has chosen a winning design that will be displayed at the 2014 New York Auto Show this month. Designed by college sophomore Alex Coyle, the "DeLux" design package uses backlighting to highlight the distinct lines of the Mini Hardtop. The "DeLux" Mini will be available for order on and through Mini dealerships across the country starting next week. But it is an extremely limited edition model—only 56 copies will be made. “‘Lux’ is the root meaning of ‘light,’” Coyle said in a recent statement from Mini. “After I went through all the options I had available to customize the car I went for all the bells and whistles and created what I call a “Deluxe” model. The result was ‘DeLux’”.
We had the chance to drive the new 2014 Mini Hardtop in February, and we were impressed by its sprightly new engine and quiet interior. The new Hardtop is available this spring, and we think it is a significant improvement from the outgoing model. Source: Mini
