Supercar Sunday: 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG
Ever wondered how fast the newest edition to the Mercedes-Benz AMG lineup performs in a standing mile? Automobile, in its latest episode of "Standing Mile", took the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG to the Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport in Michigan to see just how fast it could run the mile. Powered by a 355-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder, we'd expect this model to set a fairly quick time. The CLA doesn't have the same guttural sound of AMG models that came before it, making us just slightly disappointed. But at 146.1 mph, the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG completed the standing mile in 34.4 seconds. Putting the above numbers into perspective, the CLA45 AMG runs in the middle of the pack. The 2014 Audi RS 7 hit 170.1 mph, giving it a time of 30.5 seconds, while the 2013 Nissan 370Z Nismo got up to just under 140 mph and finished with a time of 35.9 seconds. We recently had the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the non-AMG CLA, and our team had some mixed thoughts about it. "The CLA250 has great handling and is decently powerful, but it doesn't feel very luxurious in either its feature content or its ride quality," said Kelly Pleskot, online editor here at Automotive.com. We assume the AMG version addresses these issues. Check out the video below to see the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA in action. Source: Automobile Magazine via YouTube
