It doesn't take much to convince us to watch a short video involving supercars, especially when our sister company Automobile Magazine pits a 2014 Audi R8 V10 Plus against the ultra-rare 2014 Jaguar XKR-S GT. Break down the numbers, and the intrigue quotient only grows. On paper, these two supercars are surprisingly similar, each edging out the other in one category or another. Both are rated at 550 horsepower, but the Audi R8 V10 Plus uses--as its name indicates--a 5.2-liter V-10 engine, while the Jaguar XKR-S GT opts for a 5.0-liter supercharged V-8. Both use automatic transmissions with paddle shifters, with the Audi employing seven speeds, while the Jag is a six-speed. The R8 boasts the lighter curb weight of 3,678 lbs, while the XKR-S GT tips the scales at 3,865 lbs. The Jag wins the torque battle, while the R8's 197 mph top speed bests the 186 mph figure claimed by the British beast. Price? The Audi will run you $188,995, the Jaguar, $174,895. What does all of this add up to in Automobile's Standing Mile? You can watch the video below to find out exactly what happens. Hint, it's not even close…
