2015 Hyundai Genesis Earns Top Safety Pick+

By | May 07, 2014
Earning the highest safety ratings is becoming harder and harder every year, especially as many automakers fail to perform adequately on the new small front overlap test. But with all the safety technology out there, you'd think it'd be easier. Announced today, the 2015 Hyundai Genesis managed to achieve a Top Safety Pick+ rating by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. To qualify for this rating, the Genesis scored a "Good" rating across the board in all five tests and was aided by its optional front crash prevention system. To earn a Top Safety Pick award, a vehicle much achieve "Good" ratings on the moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraint tests, as well as achieve a "Good" or "Acceptable" rating on the new small front overlap test. To get the Pick+ award, a vehicle not only has to meet the above criteria, but it also has to earn a basic, advanced, or superior rating for front crash prevention.
While this is one of Hyundai's first vehicles to be tested for the new model year, we expect more models to follow in its footsteps. For the 2014 model year, the Hyundai Elantra managed to achieve a Top Safety Pick rating, but that may change for 2015. Source: IIHS
