April 2014 Sales: Industry Sales Pick Up
For the month of April, the weather heated up and cleared the skies. As we continue toward the summer months, we've seen some record sales numbers from many automakers. Only a handful of automakers reported negative numbers, but even they had something positive to add. Among one of the automakers failing to stay positive this month, Ford not only had its best April sales since 2006 for the F-Series, but also the best April sales since 2005 for the Explorer, two of the biggest models in Ford's lineup. Lincoln, on the other hand, needs to pick up the paces. Volkswagen was also in the red, but showed that this month was the best April sales for its TDI clean diesel vehicles. So which automakers reported best-ever April sales? That list would include Audi, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Subaru, and Ram. Kia also hit a milestone by selling its 5 millionth vehicle here in the U.S. Jeep posted its best month ever, while Cadillac and GMC boasted best April sales since 2007 and Buick had its best April since 2006.
