Ford Overwhelmed by Demand for 2015 Mustang in Europe

Although the Ford Mustang doesn't officially debut in Europe until next year, customers are already vying for the chance to own one of the first copies. During the UEFA Champions League Final, a soccer match sponsored by Ford, the public had a chance to reserve one of the first 500 Mustangs for the European market. Within 30 seconds, all 500 were sold out, and by the end of the two-hour game, more than 9,300 people had signed up. “We knew there was huge excitement building for the new Ford Mustang coming to Europe, but the response during the UCL Final was overwhelming,” said Roelant de Waard, vice president of Marketing, Sales & Service for Ford of Europe. “It was a truly special way to kick off the Ford Mustang era in Europe.” Buyers had their choice of a Race Red coupe or a Magnetic Silver convertible, as well as a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine or a 5.0-liter V-8. Each car came with black leather trim, chrome detailing, and 19-inch alloy wheels. Ford will soon contact the 500 participants from 20 countries who were among the first to register for the Mustang, and they will be able to complete their order at a dealership later this year. Offering the iconic Mustang for the first time in Europe may give the automaker a needed boost in the region. Meanwhile, the 2015 Ford Mustang goes on sale in the U.S. this fall. Source: Ford
