Spied! Aston Martin Lagonda Prototype Hits U.K. Streets
We recently got our hands on pictures of a new, wedge-shaped sedan from Aston Martin. Our source reveals that this car is a special edition model that will debut either late this year or the beginning of 2015. One look at this sedan reveals a striking resemblance to the Rapide, and that's no mistake. We hear that the car will receive the same 5.9-liter V-12 engine as the Rapide S, but in this new model, horsepower may exceed 550. This bespoke prototype, likely to be called the Lagonda, will have a longer wheelbase than the traditional Rapide, which will allow more space in the back for passengers. Its body may very well consist of carbon fiber just like in the latest Vanquish. Only a limited number of buyers will be able to get their hands on one of these cars, and we can expect similar production numbers to the One-77, our source says. This car will be built by Q by Aston Martin, a division of the brand that specializes in customized cars. For this new model, don't be surprised if the price tag is higher than on the last Zagato. Check out our gallery for more photos of the Aston Martin Lagonda prototype driving on U.K streets. Note the pop-out door handles, vented hood panels, and other traditional Aston Martin cues. In the coming years, Scion will stretch the FR-S into a full lineup of models.
