2015 Alfa Romeo 4C Priced at $53,900

As we await its return to the U.S., Alfa Romeo has whetted our appetites with pricing, acceleration, and other details on the new 4C sports coupe. The first 500 cars will be sold as Launch Edition models for $68,400, and will include a carbon fiber rear spoiler and unique interior accents. This fall, the standard 4C arrives, starting at a base price of $53,900. These numbers make it slightly more expensive than a base Porsche Cayman, which goes for $52,600 with a manual transmission. Thanks to an all-aluminum engine, a composite body shell, and thinner glass, the 4C's curb weight comes in lighter than much of the competition at just 2,465 lbs. Top speed is set at 160 mph, and drivers can reach 60 mph in the mid-4 second range.
The new 4C has a TCT twin clutch transmission paired to a 1750 cc turbocharged engine that produces 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Drivers can select from four driving modes—All-Weather, Natural, Dynamic, or Race-- to customize their experience behind the wheel.
But don't expect too many frills on the inside. The 4C comes with a performance-oriented cockpit with sport seats, an exposed carbon fiber structure, flat-bottom sport steering wheel and paddle shifters, aluminum pedals, and a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster with simple graphics.
