2015 Ford Explorer Receives New Features
While it awaits a full redesign, the Ford Explorer will receive new features, trims, and colors for the 2015 model year. The 2015 Ford Explorer is now available in the XLT trim, which gives buyers many of the edgier design elements of the Sport trim without having to opt for the upgraded V-6 engine with more horsepower. The new trim comes with an appearance package that provides 20-inch machined aluminum wheels with painted pockets as well as black body-side cladding and roof rack rails. It also includes a dark silver grille, mirror caps, liftgate applique, "Explorer" hood badge, and body-color door handles. Inside the XLT are leather-trimmed seats with Miko suede inserts and contrast stitching. An auto-dimming rearview mirror and floor mats with special badging are new on the inside. The XLT also comes with upgraded technology over the base model, including Sync with MyFord Touch, two 4.2-inch LCD screens in the instrument cluster, an 8-inch LCD screen in the center stack, two USB ports, and an SD card reader. New exterior colors are also available. A reddish-orange Bronze Fire Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, a caramel brown Caribou Metallic, and a dark silver Magnetic Metallic have been added to the roster. Other updates for the 2015 Ford Explorer include new 18-inch aluminum wheels for the base model and a standard Class III trailer tow for the Sport model. The Ford Explorer will continue to provide three engine options. The standard engine is a 3.5-liter V-6 with 290 horsepower, and optional is a turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder good for 240 horsepower. The Explorer Sport 4WD comes with a turbo 3.5-ltier V-6 loaded with 365 horsepower. Source: Ford
