2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata Confirmed for September Debut

By | July 03, 2014
Mazda announced today that the fourth-generation Miata will debut as a 2016 model next month. The new roadster will debut at global events in Japan, Spain, and the U.S. For those in California, an exclusive event in Monterey, Calif. on September 3 will feature the new roadster. Beyond this information, we don't know much about the car, except for the little that was revealed at April's New York Auto Show. Here, Mazda showed off the Miata's new chassis, which will be lighter and stronger than in the current car. We also expect to see Skyactiv technology for the first time on a front mid-ship engine rear-wheel-drive car.
Following its September 3 debut, the Miata will also be featured at the Miatas at Mazda Raceway event on September 5-7. In one of the largest gatherings of Miatas in North America, the new roadster will be on display for audiences in the Monterey area. Participants in this free event will hear discussions on history, motorsports, R&D, and design. The Miata is overdue for a refresh, as the current generation debuted back in 2006. The all-new Miata will arrive just as the roadster celebrates its 25th birthday. Expect the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata to come to showrooms in the early part of next year. Source: Mazda
